Co-organised by Eastern District Office, Kai Tak Sports Initiative, Kai Tak Sports Park and Antiquities and Monument Office, the 2023-24 Eastern District Cultural Festival: Eastern District Heritage Run take runners to the city corners and feel the richness of cultural and historical heritages of the Eastern District. By understanding the stories behind, runners learn the cultural and history by sweating and working out!
The running tour start from the Woodside Biodiversity Education Centre (formerly the Woodside Mansion). Running to the Wilson trial and Hong Pak Country Trial, participants will witness the old days from the wartime cooking ranges, Mount Parker Cable Car and Taikoo reseviour. Running along the Kik Lok Tung Temple, Kwun Yum Temple and Lau Kwan Cheung Temple, participants will experience the religion’s atmosphere in the area. Finally the route go through the Ming Wah Dai Ha and Shau Kei Wan Main Street East and end at Museum of Coastal Defence.
Walking tour starts from the old Taikoo Dockyard to know the history of the old dockyard and sugar refinery. The route then leads to the Fireboat Alexander Grantham Exhibition Gallery. Along the waterfront, participants walk to Tai On Building to experience the HK old days. Passing by Holy Cross Church, participants will understand the history of Sau Kei Wan Squatter Houses and villages. Finally participants pass through the Sau Kei Wan Main Street East , the three temples and ends at Eastern District Cultural Square.

Start time
There are three starting time for each day and it is 0900/0915/0930. Participant can choose preferred starting time during enrolment.
Detail of the heritage run (running)
Distance: 8km
Timing: ~2.5 hours (8-10 mins/km)
Target participants: 16-65 years old with running experience
Difficulty: High with some mountain trails and uphill. Participants should have the ability to finish 10K.
Detail of the heritage run (walking)
Distance: 6km
Timing: 3 hours
Target participants: Anyone can walk continuously for 5km
Cost
Free of charge: All participants need to pay a deposit of $100 by credit card. The deposit will be returned to participants after attended the event. The deposit will not be returned to any participant who absent the event without reason.
