As one of the biggest dockyards in Asia, Hung Hom Dockyard employed more than 4,000 workers and was the shared memory of the last generation. In fact, the Star Ferries and some key components of the Cross Harbour Tunnel were built in the Dockyard, so the heritages could hide in street corners and avenues. This route takes you to the old district and feels the sweat and tears of those Dockyard workers! Starting from the “Red-light Hill”, which used to be a guiding light of the Kai Tak airport, participants visit the old police quarter in Tin Kwong Road and the abandoned Kowloon Docks Memorial School, as well as the ex-Hung Hom maternity home, and the journey ends at the waterfront near old Hok Un Third Power Station.
